HOW IS SMILE LONDON & ESSEX DIFFERENT THAN OTHER LOCAL CHARITIES?
We are unique in the fact that we rely fully on the donations of resources from our community. Each of our appeals are advertised on our social media platforms and call for local residents to have a look in their cupboard, wardrobes and toy boxes to see what they can live without to help others have a better life. We don’t run huge events to generate money and do not get any funds from the local authority. The charity is run by a small dedicated team all who had careers in many other sectors giving our charity a wealth of knowledge and skills. We also have a large volunteer force who give up their spare time to ensure the smooth running of SMILE London & Essex
HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU IMPACT WITH YOUR CHARITABLE WORK?
We are dedicated to helping 20 hostels in the Local area.
Each of these hostels house between 20 – 70 families. Due to the nature of temporary accommodation families come and go on a regular basis however each hostel Is continually working at a 100% occupancy. Therefore donations are needed throughout the year to support everyone that comes through their doors.
IF I MAKE A DONATION, CAN I DECIDE WHAT MY MONEY IS USED FOR?
If you wish to donate to a particular appeal then we would suggest buying the specific items that we have advertised. This will mean that this is the only appeal your donations will go to. If you donated funds to us via our collection tins, Go Fund Me account of through one of our fundraisers we cannot guarantee that you money will go to the appeal you wish as these funds are used to support all appeals and events we run as well as helping out other charities in the event of a local disaster emergency.
