We have BIG NEWS!!!
The Covid-19 crisis has impacted so many people's lives. It has affected people physically, mentally and financially.
We have had our resources stretched to the limit supporting families affected first hand by the implications of this horrible virus.
We was approached by the National Lottery Community fund (Who awarded us a substantial grant in 2019 for our operations until 2022) in April asking how they could assist us in supporting families during this difficult time.
Yesterday we were informed we had been awarded a further £25,180 to continue our support and enable us to offer more financial support to families struggling in the London and Essex areas.
This is amazing news for us, and the families we support. It is hard for us to get funding from the local authority due to the fact we support families in multiple boroughs so this is amazing news for us! We already had ideas ready to action, and now this money has been made available to us, we can't wait to get started.
We will be extending our support by:
Continuing to provide Aldi food vouchers.
Providing top up vouchers for utility bills such as gas and electric.
Provide internet dongles and access to the internet for families isolated and trying to educate children from home.
Offering logistics support for emergency housing.
More wrap around services.
We posted a poll back in early April and asked people that had been affected financially by the Coronavirus, what they felt their main concerns would be. The outcome was fears they wouldn't be able to afford food, topping up their gas and electric and isolation from the outside world while having to distance from friends and family members and having to educate children at home while schools remain closed to the majority.
As you can see this funding will benefit so many people's lives. So thank you to everyone that plays the National Lottery, you have helped make this happen.
Also a huge thank you to the National Lottery Community fund team. You have shown again how important it is for you to back small charities that support the vulnerable within the community.
We can't wait to get the ideas we have had for weeks into action.
